Will SSG follow through with their word and actually fix the issues with VIP?

The VIP loyalty program is not the same as fixing the underlying issues with VIP.

The loyalty program was a new program, an addon and additional incentive to get people to purchase and commit to VIP.

The issues with VIP were never addressed, and remain.

Will SSG follow through with their word to repair the issues with VIP? Wasn't this the simpler solution all along?

Now, instead of just having issues to address with VIP ... there are also issues to address with this new loyalty program.

Yes. So it would seem.

I'm not sure anyone really thought about how a vip loyalty program is not the same as fixing vip. it is a 'bonus' ... and doesn't point to the core issues people have with vip.

It's like saying ... we know that car is a rusting hoopty... how about we throw in some fuzzy dice to sweeten the deal? No? How about this pimp hat too. Sweet bling doesn't change the fact that the car is a rusting hoopty. Bling doesn't change the fact that VIP is a rusting hoopty.

I think far fewer people would be complaining about the loyalty program if the actual issues with VIP were addressed.

And instead of talking about the rewards in the loyalty program, we should be talking about how vip was never fixed, and an additional program does not change that.

SSG sidestepped the VIP issues by presenting a new shiny toy that distracted everyone from the fact that they ... never addressed the core issues with VIP.

Plenty of threads over the years full of discussion outlining the variety of issues the playerbase have with the VIP program and what they were hoping would be changed. Moving on.

They will not. They gave us the VIPLP, wiped their hands, dusted their feet, and left the building.

I am not positive I understand what the "underlying issue" mentioned is.

To me the VIP value proposition is very simple:

If you want to enjoy the game with $100 or less each year, VIP is not and likely never will be a better value than FTP or premium. Simply buying xpacs with $/points and other things with earned points or occassional spend combing bonus points and deep discounts is a much better approach for those with a limited gaming budget. This also works for people that play sporadically and might be gone for months at a time before returning.

If you are a bit more invested in the game and have a budget of at least $200 per year and spend an average of at least 10 hours per week, VIP is the cheapest way to buy XP boosts in the game. To me all the other perks are just icing on the cake that I appreciate (esp on hardcore!), but XP is still at the top of the list for me.

I view the loyalty program positively - they are adding value to VIP vs. what is there now and that value grows over time. The value of VIP is better than it was 6 months ago and might move the needle for some people. I think many people are underestimating how good this program is, and some may regret not being VIP from the onset and being behind on the rewards.

If you want to complain about the issues with VIP but can't be bothered with explaining what those issues are... you might be part of the problem.
I am with Falkor on this one point. Players concerns with VIP value have been hashed out repeatedly for the last few weeks. There isn't really any need to review it again.

I think that "their word to repair issues" and that "VIP loyalty program is not the same as fixing the underlying issues with VIP." are in the OPs head. Just because they don't like the answer doesn't mean that there was a promise unfulfilled or more that must be done.

By all means they are welcome to continue a quixotic campaign to get a better answer. But realistically it has been answered and the better response is to decide if you want to spend money to be a VIP or not. That is all that one can control at this point.

What "word to repair the issues?" What are the underlying issues, for that matter? And what are the issues with the loyalty program? You can't just say "moving on" and expect other people to fill in the gaps for you.

Which is kinda my point as well. This is well trodden ground & that horse is beaten quite well (making this thread IMO redundantly redundant...) I'm pretty sure that SSG has done all that it is going to do @ this point. Don't like it? Don't subscribe to their VIP! Vote with your wallet, but I wouldn't expect much more at this point.

To expand on my earlier statement, VIP updates are likely done by SSG’s perspective, as FaceDancer noted above.
Yeah, that's my take as well.

But maybe getting ladders fixed is on the list for next year's VIP program :p

Oh look...

a extremely vague complaint to jump on a bandwagon.

only issue I see (IMHO) is :

Once you have earned "X" month of being VIP, you should never loose it....period!!

Having to stay VIP to keep what you already earned with your loyalty is wrong!
