To say ChatGPT came up with this build needs a bit of explanation. First, it wasn't easy. Second, there was a heavy learning curve. Third, only about 70% of the build is really from ChatGPT, and I filled in the blanks. For example, it really struggles to understand Enhancement and Destiny trees. As long as I focused on one tree at a time and gave it detailed directions, it could get the idea. After a while, however, it would give up and start making abilities up. And they sounded like legit abilities, so I had to start checking everything.
I just didn't have the patience to keep going.
We might ask questions like, "Why Aasimar?" I gave ChatGPT other options to consider, and it stuck with Aasimar. Mainly, it was the +2 Wisdom and healing hands. I could have talked it into choosing another race, but that wasn't the goal of this experiment. I wanted to give it the freedom to choose what it wanted as long as those choices followed DDO character creation rules and some minimum standard of logic. A lot of the process was designing prompts followed by a lot of trial and error. Clear, direct, and concise prompts worked best.
I could only have it work on one aspect at a time, like Abilities, Heroic Feats, Epic Feats, 1 Enhancement tree, or 1 Destiny tree. I had it reverse engineer the build, starting with a general set of roles; it picked battlefield denial, crowd control, and survivability. From there, we worked pretty much from Level 32 down to 1, then from 1 back up. Since this was going to be a first-life build, the idea of hitting Reaper/Epic Legendary DCs was going to be nearly impossible, so CC took a backseat.
Another problem was that if a session went too long, ChatGPT started to get crazy: That's when it would start making stuff up. So, I'd have to copy the current build information to carry it forward to a new session. This went on for about nine sessions. Eventually, ChatGPT started losing focus on the previous build and tried to go in its own new direction. That's about when I called it quits.
I might try other attempts, but for now, this is it.
Anyway, it's not a bad build.
