Cold sorc build wanted

Why do you need ruin for trash mobs, when u can finger? Those are for raid bosses. Ppl go for ruin build on sorc cos the elemental dmg from dragborn tree works with caster level and it's massive dmg - more than ruin itself.
There's trash in some raids that you can't finger.

This is where opinions divide. Or I mean for my build/gear setup there's only one feat path, but there is a build for raids and stuff which involves ruin/greater ruin and I guess geared toward maximising crit chance/dmg. I like when my stun works.

Heroic:

Max
Emp
Quicken
Heighten
PL: Wizard
Evo I
Evo II

Epic:

Wellspring
Burst of Glacial Wrath
Intensify
Embolden

Destiny:

Spell power cold
Crush weakness
Spell power positive
Spell power electric or deific warding

Legendary:
Ice

Playstyle is primarily kill-or-die so I use a lot of finger/pk/trap the soul for stray mobs and hold/freeze for groups.
There must be an optimal set of Feats and Gear for high reaper content. The focus is probably trying to get as high DC as possible. My end build is melee, but Sorc for now, so trying to optimise when it comes to Feats & Gear, whilst staying away from the "just do what you like" bs.

Idk why you quoted me to say this but I literally said my entire focus was on dc lol.

But my build - well at least sorc - revolves mostly around muscle memory of dungeons & quick reflexes of the player so it might not be your cup of tea.

The only "do whatever you like" option I gave was on spellpower feat vs deific warding, which depends on your confidence.

Dps sorc vs insta kill sorc specialize different builds different setups

And spell specialty is not WAI be careful when building around that

That necro dc seems way to low to be useful droams are what 140 now 120 for the archers so

And thats without Despair reaper debuffs

Specialize 2 dcs max to the max evoc enchant or necro illusion work from there trying to do to much just weakens them all

Well built they should be at 130 + evoker or instakiller dump magus for fatesinger for more stacking dcs and shouts

why shout? because Tilomare said so? lol

I think there was a bug with shout where it didn't have DC but I think it's been fixed now.

My build reaches ~132 evo dc and ~124 necro/conju/enchant dc. You can't specialise in 2 schools as sorc. It's one + others subsidiary. My case I opted for evo for reliable stun

And you can't use anything else than draconic as a sorc, well at least if you want to do damage. So you have to give up on the +1 dc from Fatesinger tier 5 obvs.

That should be your base then boost to deal with despair reapers mines 130 without iod gear

The evok dcs are borderline for sharns because your trying to focus on too many

dude there is no way you can cc despair, he is not meant to be cc'ed

naah 130 is way above any sharn saves. You can do well with ~125 in sharn.

If you know the game you know you can deal with despair with power word stun + iceberg + polar ray

also I'm not trying to focus making sacrifices to my evo dc or dps, it's just +6 augs and sharn goggles. There's no taking of any necro/enchant DC feats. Ah well maybe the magus/primal tree +3 for ench/necro. But necro is quite handy unless droam, as you said, even the archers in which have very high forti saves.

Every r skull debuffs so r10 those are borderline then reaper despair on top with all those evasion mobs

pfffft you sound like Daimonzz

if you crit with iceberg on helpless especially when you have your wellspring up you will one shot despair on r10. then you wait 1-2secs for the save buffs to run out and then hit the group with glacial wrath + dragon breath

I’ve been trying to incorporate the 5 piece vecna set as much as possible, but in the end I don’t think it’s worth the slots, because of the nature of set augments replacing preexisting set bonuses (I don’t even have a single set augment, but I like to theorise for the most optimal setup).

In the end I think improvements from my previous setup is the way to go.

Here is the setup I came up with

Head: Elder’s (14 int, 2 sox, reaper +2)

Trinket: Elder’s / Huruvayah’s (+6 evo, ins. Glac., 1 soc)

Eye: Sharn raid set goggles (+3 ins. Spell foc. Mastery, 2 sox)

Neck: Huruvayah’s (+2 profane DC, 2 sox, +15% helpless dmg)

Chest: Order’s Garb (1 soc)

Back: dino spell crit dmg 35% (+2 sox)

Belt: dino artefact (+15 cha, hamp, 2 sacred DC, 3 sox) (tough shield)

Wrists: Order’s Garb (1 soc, spell pen)

Hands: vecna gloves / defiler gloves (+2 q.focus, 2sox) (tough shield)

Feet: sharn (+3 q.cha, q.potency) (1 soc) (tough shield)

Ring1: Elemental Ring (Fire)

Ring2: Elemental Ring (Ice)

Aug:

  • +2 evo
  • +2 Festiv. Cha
  • +5 ins. Cha
  • +14 con
  • +5 ins. con
  • +2 Profane (litany)
  • +2 necro
  • +2 enchant
  • (+2 illu)
  • +6 necro
  • +6 enchant
  • +6 conju
  • Pomura’s whatever, the +5% ins. Spell crit chance aug
  • Aug set: Tough Shield
  • Deathblock

Weap1: dino staff (efficacy, glac, tic dmg of your choice, affirmation) (meridian) (devotion)

Weap swap 1: lgs vacuum & lgs mrr reduction

If you are in a party then

Lgs mrr&prr reduc / lgs mrr&hamp reduc or smth there’re 2 versions

Weap swap2 (healing): lgs hamp + lordsmarch heal stick

Filigrees:

15 cha (2* (+2 rare cha) + 11 cha) + 5% cold spell crit filigree

4 piece otto / beholder

Rest +1 cha’s

This will net in 123 evo dc in Reaper (3 racial points) and 124 on BOGW, and ~ 121 on others.

And cold spell crit dmg at 105 and spellpower around 1050, and 1150 buffed.

Epic tree:

Magus / draconic / primal

Draconic tier 5, magus up to spell focus and 3rd core for nullmagic shield, and rest primal. Pick up all the little spellpower as you can, and ignore efficiency stuff; you have a lot of sp for quests from gear.

Evo +3

Necro +3

Enchant +3

Enh tree:

Ice savant 41

Dragon racial 18 (20 for wings, this is very useful in combat)

Feydark 22 (24 for 1% crit chance if you have racial past lives)

If you’re racial completionist obvs get +1cha from harper tree
Are you not fitting in the 5 piece IOD? Or am I missing something?

update

you CAN incorporate vecna set. BUT maybe this is still the best / not far off from vecna if you don't have all the stuff.

But I mean the real good builds are never posted in public so you know.. i wanna delete my post lol

With Dragonbreath getting nerfed into oblivion in U66, Magus T5 is looking to be a solid option for Sorcs.

By this do you think draconic won't be worth the points at all? Not quite following your logic otherwise as I don't see anything in draconic T5 that impacts dragonbreath.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to trying the changes to magus next lama

Breath nerf hurts definitely.
But there is no way sorcs moving away from draconic tier 5 cos of ruin lol

My build should work fine even without dragon breath at all. Survival as always is a bit of an issue though. Maybe I should switch the magus to angel for healing.

Bdesides this idk how sorcs could compete with alch or druid tbh. They are all on par on CL/MCL, but the other 2 with so much more utilities and damage. I never see any sorc in high reaper (r8+) only druid.

They are both solid - will need to try both for an extended period to know for sure. But Cosmos and the ability to make bosses take helpless damage is compelling.

I mean this is only good if you have a REALLY good dps static raid grp.. if you think as a sorc you can benefit from this idk what to say lol

Magus tier 5 thingy will never be as good. Sorc will remain flavour class for now.

I think most players understand how making a boss helpless in a raid is a benefit. Not all players focus on making the whole party better so people value that ability differently.

I’m interested in seeing a build as well, since I’m stumbling through a cold spec life on an ancient alt I recently dusted off, but it’s probably relevant to state your goals and parameters as well. Are you looking for a cold spec build to build up a lot of past lives, to stay at cap and run high skull reaper, park at cap to farm for other characters, something else? Do you have many past lives or racial APs, lots of/ very few reaper points?
Dont worry about whats immune. youll get that bypas to immunity in your trees. Taking a secondary elemental power helps as well. Ive played a cold sorc for a few lives now, Dragon born is okay but deep gnome gives a spell resist as well as drow.Yes take evocation focus and greater. splash in some fire spells as is situational. dealing with the undead will be ur challenge. Sonic helps. If just doing heroic past lives, fire sorc is better. If going to cap and doing raids, cold sorc is meta.I take the metas that the trees boost. Empower.quicken and heighten. I dont need these at all until a boss or raids.otherwise they are off. Youll need self healing items as most sorc builds have no healing. damphir is an option as it has the heals.Teleport to the Portable hole and bind there as this is where youll get your scrolls for buffs and potions as well as spell mats. You can carry a stack of 1000 each. make sure not to run out. Taking eschew is not worth it.Dont bother with toughness unless only taking once. Use augments to boost your hit points. Get as many spell points as possible. At end game i currently have 4900, In sands of menacrtum youll craft the rings of spell storing. Youll want all three; heroic.epic and legendary, Esoteric set is great, Saltmarsh rings. Dont take a spell that you can use a scroll for such as teleport. Nightshield. stoneskin. If you solo its good to have a hire tank on active. Like the scarecrow. You need to attack from a distance whenever possible. youll face challenges in tight spots like caves. No matter what others say, bring those hires when soloing!! no shame. The gold seal permanant level 3 cleric is extemley useful in lower levels to summon every 5 minutes for spell points. At a shrine she can do this twice.Saving the shrine for yourself later if needed. Also, invest in the heal spell to get your hit points back at shrines. Invest in concentrate, perform(sonic),UMD(scrolls) and Bluff(my choice) you could do diplomacy if you choose.SPELLCRAFT is a must here.Ignore swim and jump. You get the jump spell which will boost you up to a high enough level to not need the skill.STRIMTOM has a pretty good youtube video cold sorc as well as the other elemental choices. Traps will be a thing without evasion so watch his video on how to help negate damage there. Good Luck and sorry for the later chime in.lol
