Could Sci-fi take a page from science, reuse ideas more with citation system, like a format pun and commentary?

Imaging Sci-fi books reading like science publications, but instead of continuing science ideas in papers, you're continuing sci-fi ideas in stories. Now you're leaning into continuing other people's ideas and having attribution footnotes and citation lists rather than being accountable to know every idea in Sci-fi to avoid the sin of re-using it. Maybe even just a novel series that is a psuedo science-publication format like this would be interesting but I could see it being a quirky sub-genre on its own. A bit like fan fiction but more like creating something new but also a weave of everything else, and leaning into the aesthetic of using and citing, and leaning into the contrast with a classic Sci-fi commandment. To some extent, we're kinda past the super strict era against reusing or riffing on previous Sci-fi. Part of the point would be to explore themes and commentary around the systems of science and science fiction. I see opportunities to examine and re-examine and expound on the processes of science and data analysis in their current states. Footnotes are an opportunity to create a meta voice. The body of the novel would read like a good novel.
