Deathnip build

What would be a good deathnip build? Ranger/dlord? Maybe some kind of dwarf?

Has the past become present again? Oh for the days of auto-crit on helpless...

Best build I can imagine would be a TWF with at least 5 DL for PL farming.

Deathnips are not great to build around anymore. You have them for five levels before swapping out to a sentient epic weapon.

In the past it was level cap 20 and Shroud ad nauseum so people built around those weapons.

For TWF, I'd still use ranger 12+ for Tier-5 Tempest (Dance of Death FTW) + Advanced Sneak Attack + Killer. Enjoy your 16-20/x5 critical threat range from levels 14-20.

For SWF, I'm thinking barbarian or Dragon Lord Ravager for +2 crit range to maximize Heartseeker procs (15-20/x4).

In both cases, plan to either TR at 20 or switch to better epic weapons (possibly swapping from piercing to slashing).

17-20/x6 sounds really juicy but at 100% bonus damage, its good but its still comparable to other crit-focused builds

Falchion 15 Pal/5 DL, e.g., hits 14-20/x4 for 105% bonus damage, with higher base damage and strikethrough. And you can actually take it into Epic with eXuum and it gets even better (14-20/x5 for 140%).

If you want to build something around one of those juicy Orchard weapons, you might do better using Phosphor (16-20/x2 Heavy Mace) on a Dlord/Scourge DWS SWF build. That'll become an absolutely insane 12-20/x5 (+2 Range KT, +1 IC, +1 DWS core; +x2 Dlord, +x1 Scourge) for 180% bonus damage, likely the best in the game. But that only gets you from 15-20 (or 23?), then after that you're probably looking at Forgotten Light from 23+: 18-20/x2 becomes 14-20/x5, still a really solid 140%, so better than your Deathnip but usable for far longer.

-----------------

Heck, just Dlord by itself is pretty juicy for using KT 1H Bludgeon weapons...

- Nightforge WH becomes 18-20/x4 at L8 with KT (45%), and 17-20/x6 at L12 with IC and T5 (100%)
- Coronation at L14 is 15-20/x5 (120%) or Phosphor is 13-20/x4 (120%)
- Drow Warhammer at L21 is 15-20x5 (120%) and Sentient

Of course that falls off at cap when you revert back to Dbone Warhammer at 17-20/x5 (80%)

Scourge is only iconic, right? The base race doesn't get the bonuses?
