Golden Greaves Dropping in ADQ?

This might be WAI but I was just running R1 epic ADQ raid and pulled golden greaves. I was confused because I was pretty sure those drop in an opt chest in CoF, and the wiki confirmed that. Just thought I'd share and see if anyone else has pulled non-ADQ items from ADQ.

anything that drops in the non wild can drop there

back in s/s/s days had a pug pull spec gloves and the shard for it from the chest

Yeah, it occasionally drops those items and tomes. That chest has such a massive loot list it can pull from. Still so glad we no longer have to farm the s/s/s parts.

The updated items and crafting system is great. I spent years hoarding the s/s/s comps and I was never gladder to get rid of anything than when I could dump them.

Look at all the proud gatekeepers walking a hundred miles to school uphill and against the wind. How dare anything ever gets better or easier for anyone else.

I didn't see anyone in this thread saying anything remotely close to that.

A person can be proud of attaining a formerly difficult achievement while still being happy things are easier now. Some prestige is lost, but pointing that out doesn't mean they are gatekeeping.

"back in my day..." can simply be talking about how things used to be.

Back in my day, we played EQ1. Early on, you were lucky to get to 50th level in a year. We had "Hell Levels", hour long corpse runs, 30 min boat rides, days camping a spot for an uber item (that became a PoS years later). In fact, we had to hold a camp 24/7 in order to be able to farm it. Major item farm camps had a waiting list days long. And you waited on that list 24/7, cuz you never knew when your name would come up...

Damn, EQ1 was harsh in the early years.

But that was incredibly fun.
Even now, I've never experienced a raid surpassing the 72-person EQ raid.

Wall of Text / Rant Warning:

Having not really begun playing this game until January 2021 (just a bit before Salt Marsh released), I have never really known the difficulties of farming a lot of the "Older" gear. By the time I wanted a Sword of Shadows, my seniors in the guild had already run me through the raid enough times for me to have the runes to just get one. By the time I wanted it Upgraded I had already actually pulled another one of my own with a Mythic +2.

But I have heard stories from people whom have been playing the game for 15+ years and are still yet to pull this or that. I, myself, had run Skellies w/optional over 110 times in full raid groups and only seen Lindal's belt drop 1 time (and not for me) before they opened it up for double runes purchases.

I guess what I'm saying is that I am glad that they (SSG) have revamped and re-evaluated their drop techniques. I do not like the idea of purely RNG based drops. There should always be a mechanism of making progress towards your goal in a measurable way. The Raid Runes are great! Crafting systems with pieces like Dino Bones or the Alters in the Twelve that Saltmarsh intoduced with pack based materials are also wonderful.

What I don't like is when pure RNG decides who gets to progress through their goals. Seeing folks talk about "Achievements" that are based solely on the RNG of the game and not on any functional thing that they did differently than any of the other 11 people in the raid who didn't get the item that time is weird to me.

We all know or have stories about items that were sought after for way too long before they dropped (if they ever did!) but hearing people claim that they "Achieved" something instead of calling it a "Lucky Pull" seems off to me. It makes it sound like they are saying they "did" something besides farm the heck outta the quest and if you had only done that too you would have this shiny thing. But since you "didn't Achieve" that you don't get it.

I admit that I am blessed with a regular group of friends/guildies who play and are always willing to repeat farm a quest and pass the requested loot. I admit that half the players I play with regularly are longtime vets who steer me in the right direction so I don't waste my time with non-sense unless I really want to make a "Theme" build. I also admit that I am the type to look things up on the wiki and do research so as to increase my chances of success in whatever I am working towards.

But with all of that having been said I still try to keep in mind that many players are no so lucky. Some have not the time I have to play. Some have not the grouping opportunities that I enjoy. Some have not the astral shards to re-roll for that extra chance. Some have far worse RNG than me.

For all of those players out there I say, Be Mindful. Don't claim to have "Achieved" something that was literally given to you. Loot is given to you by the game. Just as it is with-held from you by the game. Unless that Item has a 100% drop rate from a difficult/hazardous chest that requires skill to obtain - you did not "Achieve" that loot. You benefitted from the game's mechanics. So thank the Gods of RNG for your luck and wish others well on their own rolls while maintaining a feeling of accomplishment due to being "Accidentally Awesome!"

We could all be a little more Clark Kent about it instead of pretending to be Superman.

(I'll get off my high horse now and try to blend back in with the crowd.)
