Question regarding Tabaxi

Hi all,

Tabaxi didn't benefit from animal-related bonus be it spell or item? So they didn't count as animal right?

I would think they benefit from Druid spells like Magic Fang if doing unarmed strikes... If not that seem counter intuitive.

I asked about that early on and IIRC the response was they didn't want to release two "animal types" in a row (shifter then tabaxi)
