Remnants in outdoor areas?

I don't think I've seen this before.

I was in saltmarsh outdoor area and killed the rare Balthan Korl and he dropped a mysterious remnant.

Any one else seen this?

thats specific to that rare encounter (if u payed attention to DM you would understand)

Yeah.

It is a gatekeeper related encounter that would become a champion and drop Mysterious Remnants. You will also find this in Killing Time, where it's not normally located.

"Description of Balthan: A former Gatekeeper driven mad by the Codex's power, Balthan activates a Mysterious Remnant when attacking, making him always spawn as a Elemental Fury Monster Champion."

To be thorough: other than that one uniquely coded boss, wilderness areas are always considered Normal difficulty, thus never spawn champs and cannot drop Rems

I always figured it was a bug since you never get a message about collecting said rems that drop from his death...
