I hear you Sophie, I really do & I agree, I'm quite sad myself at the overwhelming lack of a response myself hehe.

I feel like I'm either forced to waste the money I have already invested in khyber, buying bags, inventory/bank space, that sorta stuff & will lose all that starting over on a new server, or strong armed into buying a server transfer for an absurd amount of money to move the character over & that still doesn't count my mules & past alts that are holding gear & goodies as well.

Like I feel like I'm damned if I do & damned if I don't & it just feels bad.

Either I stay on a dead server where I cant find anyone to play with, but have all my DDO store stuff & characters, or have to give everything up & start over PLUS lose everything I've already purchased.

It's just a dreadful choice either way isn't it?!
Khyber has become much less active than it was, but he is not completely dead. I am not considering changing servers and leaving everything I have here.

I've been playing little for a while now, but let's see if I feel like it and get into it more. We can get together and set up raids and reaper groups.

I did not realize you had purchased all those things and made storage characters. Losing all that infrastructure makes starting over significantly worse.

Play with Griglok and his guild as much as you can. He has very good reasons to require an extended trial period. Those reasons have nothing to do with you--they are about guild renown acquisition mechanics. The way guilds work in this game is beyond stupid--demonstrably destructive to community building--and the developers refuse to fix it.

Take advantage of every channel you can to make more friends. For whatever reason, players on Khyber are super secret squirrel about everything.

I play solo at low difficulty at slow speed at odd hours and cannot offer any direct help. Sorry.

It's ok Sophie, I just have resigned myself to the fact that I'm stuck playing alone, cause people suck.

Thanks all the same for trying so hard.

People are usually pretty protective of their guilds. DDO has been around for over a decade and a half. Many people have been playing with those people for years and form lasting friendships and guilds are almost family like. I understand the need to run with players before blind inviting as a bad fit can undermine everyones experience and I am not even talking about playstyle. If you need a hand with anything I am happy to send you our guilds discord. We are more than happy enough to answer any questions or give a hand where you might need it. Our guilds priorities are not where you are at at the moment but all of my guild members would be happy to give advice, gear or resources if you need it to help you on your way.

no thank you. Im not looking for a handout. Like I said, don't worry about it. I've just resigned myself to the fact that people suck & I'll just play it alone until I can't do anything else & then just uninstall & go play something else, writing this whole game off in the process.

All I get is excuses on why folks can't play with me, just not interested anymore. Like I said, y'all are ridiculous, this is a video game, played for fun, not sure why everyone who plays it on khyber is so uptight, but all you're doing is running off prospective new players with your nonsense.

make all the excuses you want for why it's happening, but at the end of the day y'all got no one to blame but yourselves for the dwlindling population because you never let anyone new in!

This will be the last time I visit the forums as I've already cancelled my subscription & I will just play solo until my time runs out, getting what little I can out of the money I wasted on this game & then uninstall & never come back.

The community here (on khyber) has just completely turned me off wanting anything to do with this game anymore.

thanks anyways.

Well I am actually not here to apologize or make excuses for anybody.

You may also want to consider your own entitlement at this. One guild asked for you to run with them a bit to get to know you. Your response might benefit a bit from self reflection to your reaction to this very reasonable ask. It is why those guilds don't implode and the responsibility of guild leadership to ensure that all enjoy the guild.
I am not sure why something could be considered a terrible inconvenience, maybe its a generational issue that at my age I don't get. These people took the time to talk with you and offered to run with you. People like Griglok should be commended for this. I have had the less than joyful experience of being nice and inviting new people only to have issues with people not being a good fit.

As far as Kyber goes I have offered support of me and my guild who while I believe would not be suitable for you could have answered any of your questions and provided advice which you stated was a major issue.

Population declining. Yep a 17 year old game with no advertising and Kyber not being the default world for probably over a decade sure it will. However my guild just added 2 brand new players, they understand that most of our guild is not in the TR game part but end game.

If you don't find Kyber to your liking that is your choice. But to blame others who were actually trying to assist but imposed some small considerations to make sure you were a good fit first? That is just bad form and I think something you might want to consider moving forward.

Good luck.

normally I would've let this go, but you just flat out lied about multiple things, or maybe you are confused about what happened, I'm not sure, but allow me to set the record straight:

- first off, no one offered to run anything with me. That's the problem! I literally sat in Grigoks discord talking to him, his wife, & a whole bunch of their guild members for many hours that night. I even posted a little get to know me & posted a pic of me in their discord, both of which were ignored (no interaction with the posts, not even a lil thumbs up or anything).

The entire time I was there in their discord, they never asked me ANY questions about myself (except 1, where did I live) or attempted to get to know me at all (which I thought was super odd if they had any interest in adding me, why no questions?!). In fact, it was quite the opposite, it was just them telling me over & over that it was goin to take a considerable amount of time before (or even if) I would get a guild invite & that was only after someone from the guild ran with me multiple times. So i waited all that night (friday), nothing, all day saturday, nothing, all day sunday, nothing. not a single person reached out, despite all of them telling me they had me on their friends list so they could do just that. no messages on discord either!

by monday I was over it & decided to just unsub from the game, because I was exhausted from spending two weeks trying 8 to 10+ hours every day, both on the forums AND in game, trying to find a guild that would accept me & play with me. I found no one! All I found was excuses on why folks couldn't or wouldn't play with me. So I was stuck playing alone, every single day. Like I even went back & checked my email to figure out when I started playing again & it was Jan 12th, but I couldn't get onto the forums for quite some time, because of the "security features" despite me contacting both support & the community manager via pm to help me fix it. So it's actually been like 3 weeks, almost a month I've been trying to get this sorted with no luck at all.

Secondly, As for the "terrible inconvenience" that was in regards to me giving up all my infrastructure on khyber, ie: ddo store purchased bags, bank space, inventory space, bank mules, past characters from launch, etc & start all over fresh on a less horrible server. That's what I was talking about. I thought was very clear, but I guess not.

Lastly, As for you & your guilds offer. All you offered was the ability to ask & answer questions. That's it. You even said yourself your guild was "unsuitable" for me, & in the same breath said you added 2 brand new players to your guild recently, so then why am I unsuitable & they aren't?.

Like if I just needed a question answered, I can do that with a youtube video & a wiki page. I was looking for interaction with other people in a mmo, I know, it's a wild idea, but hear me out, see folks used to play games with other random people & actually enjoyed themselves!. Nowadays, y'all are beyond antisocial & almost down right xenophobic about allowing any new people into your circles & at the end of the day you are just punishing yourselves. So enjoy your dwindling player base on your dead server & I will simply go do something else.

but I won't allow you to just flat out lie or misrepresent what actually happened. I know what happened, I was there.

This thread has devolved into a point fingers thread and not into something fruitful.

The truth for Khyber is that in general 95% of groups are formed in discords.

To start yourself on the best foot, join the LFM's in your level bracket. Run with the people there.

I will say I have only heard good things about TCO and Griglok, they obviously have their reasons for their recruitment process. Guilds are like having a reputation to a degree, if yours has a bad one because of a set of players/even a single player then people are less inclined to run with that guild therefore people are selective and for some guilds this is super important. It is also true that people will be people, and people will clash so therefore guilds are selective in the event that people may just not get along.

I came back 3 years ago.. it took a minute to find my feet and find the right guild, unfortunately it just doesn't happen overnight but honestly? It never has in this game.

With the game population the way it is though people need to start being more forgiving and accepting and welcome new players with open arms.

I've messaged you and if you are on in my times I will happily run with you.. a guild isn't a be all and end all, you can run with multiple people from multiple guilds. Getting into the discords is the key.. for Khyber at least.

I am for the most part content to run mostly solo. I occasionally will run with one or two other peeps, but I kinda like doing things on my own terms for the most part. Can't always do that because there are some things that you just can't do solo so teaming up is a necessary evil sometimes. Good luck on your quest. Sorry to hear that you've hit that much static.

I quit for several years and came back to Khyber all my friends were gone most of my characters kicked out of their guilds so I just mainly play by myself but I could get you a guild invite to guild so you can get ship buffs and quick transport to a few places I play mainly mornings Arizona time. My completionist character is on khyber otherwise I would probably play another server but he's just level 8 on a new life

I saw your post the other day and thought about it. I am the guild leader of Pandora's Box on Khyber. We are a small guild with only a handful of people on at any given time that are different level ranges, have different goals and live in different parts of the world with wildly different play times. I am on nearly every day for a little bit in the early morning hours but I work full time and my familial commitments mean frequent afks which is not fair to other party members and prevents me from being able to commit to raiding or play at specific times for a reliable amount of time with a static group. It really is hit or miss for me to group and the people I have recruited understand that. It is a super casual but friendly guild and not exactly what I think you are looking for in a guild. However, if you want a place to hang your helm for a bit until you find an ideal fit you can send a message in game to Mokune (my main) or Angelplague (the alt I playing currently).
