What filigrees are good for low power ranged characters?

I probably asked this before but...I forgot.

I have hundreds of filigrees from years of play and should probably, ya know, slot some of them. 😐 What filigrees are good for low power ranged characters--32 Inquisitive, 32 Mechanic, eventually some Rangers. These are solo characters with very modest equipment and Morninglord weapons. The weapons will eventually have 5 slots. Super equipment configurations are wasted on me. I will never get even close to having that stuff. I just want to know what filigree set will give me the most bang--I mean, pew. Yeah. Pew. Not cow puteo. 🤢 (That's Latin, by the way.) Pew. As in, pew pew. 🧝‍♀️

Okay. But...wouldn't some 5 filigree combo thingy be even better?

I slotted melee power for years, then changed to Dreadbringer, like, last year or something, and that seems more powerful. Maybe not. Dunno. Just thought there might be something better.

Stacking ranged power doesn't mean just using RP filigree. It means maximizing the net RP you get including set bonuses. Spines of the Manticore/Wreath of Flame rare is 10RP each. Slot two of them for an additional +2 damage.

Dreadbringer 4pc is phenomenal for melee because you can net 25 MP by slotting MP in your minor artifact and your sentient jewel, and including some combination of tactics, STR/DEX and PRR.

Hi Sophie, so many options—depends on build and playstyle—like Ying says, just load up on rp. The sets of dreadbringer stack, so assuming one of the four is a rare ranged power, that will be 20 RP plus some fort bypass.

People will use shattered device to reduce the enemies defenses which in turn boosts your damage, but if someone else is already doing it, not necessary. Rogues get their sneak boosted by ranged power so really worth it to just focus on that. You can aim to do one that adds sneak and an imbue die if you like.

Just keep it simple.

Edit: Ying is suggesting raid filigree which I imagine you cannot get since you probably do not have any threads of fate from raiding. The other option is duplicating the same filigree in a set with an artifact—so if you have the ranged power rare in an artifact of dreadbringer, and also in your weapon, they both count towards the four so you get 30 RP

Okay. That all makes perfect sense. (None of it makes any sense at all.) I gave you all cookies.

At 6 slots I could have 4 x Spines of the Manticore and 2 x Deadly Rain. Would that be a decent?

So many variables—I know you are playing a rogue and venomed blades and sneak damage scale off of ranged power, and you need fortification bypass anyway, so just load up on dreadbringer. It drops in Saltmarsh which you mentioned elsewhere you like passing time.

Put a rare ranged power both in the weapon as well as the artifact. They will stack, and each ‘level’ of the filigree set stacks. That will net you a solid set bonus with ranged power boosts and fortification bypass. If you can get your filigree sets up higher you can add enough to get one with doubleshot in it or do the Shattered Device set.

For 5 slots i would go 3 deadly rain + 2 long shadow

Deadly Rain: Attack and Damage +1 to hit and damage PRR +2
Deadly Rain: Ranged Power +3 Ranged Power +2 Ranged Power
Deadly Rain: Critical Confirmation and Damage +2 to critical confirmation rolls and damage PRR +2
2 Pieces: +5 Ranged Power
3 Pieces: +2 Damage

The Long Shadow: Attack and Damage +1 to hit and damage PRR +2
The Long Shadow: Ranged Power +3 Ranged Power +2 Ranged Power
2 Pieces: +5 Melee and Ranged Power

Thank you for all the advice!

I spent all of yesterday ransacking quests and the Saltmarsh wilderness a few times. My 18 Rogue / 2 Barbarian Inquisitive now has 5 piece Saltmarsh + 3 piece Ravenloft. (She was missing two pieces when I wrote the first post in this thread.) I know that is not great but it is much better than nothing. Her weapon now has 17,000+ Sentient Experience so 5 slots is within reach.

It took me a while to understand what Ying suggests. None of my characters have artifacts because the stupid things never drop or never fit. These characters cannot access the Isle of Dread. As such, slotting the same filigree twice is impossible. It took years to find what equipment my Inquisitive has. Completely redoing her equipment is effectively impossible in the short term because it will take years for new pieces to drop, augments are extremely rare, and tool kits are too expensive. For better or worse, she must make do with what she has.

Manyshot seems very useful for the Ranger.

For the Rogues, that leaves me with Saekee San's suggestion for Dreadbringer and Dragavon's suggestion for Deadly Rain and Long Shadow. Dreadbringer offers 20 potential Ranged Power. Deadly Rain and Long Shadow provide 18 potential Ranged Power. It will take until the end of time to unlock 9 slots. So...Dreadbringer followed by Deadly Rain and Long Shadow as slots allow?

My Mechanic Rogue has more options because she needs almost everything. Unfortunately, that opens the door to a long and painful discussion about equipment. Even if I knew what equipment to collect, that process takes a very long time. Therefore, I will give her some weapon filigrees and kick that can down the road.

What content do you have available and what do you enjoy playing/farming?

The account with the Mechanic Rogue has everything accept Saltmarsh, Feywild, Isle of Dread, Vecna Unleashed, and the very latest quest pack. (I tried to purchase Saltmarsh but the cash shop is not working for me at this time. It worked fine earlier this year.)

My plan is to purchase Saltmarsh, then equip my Mechanic with 5 piece Saltmarsh + 3 Piece Ravenloft. (This is exactly what my Rogue/Barbarian Inquisitive uses. If necessary, I will purchase Saltmarsh with points.)

While Sharn is not my favorite, many of my characters have the story quests completely unlocked. The Cogs still confuse me. (It was my intention to unlock Sharn on my remaining accounts but...cash shop no worky.) Later today, I plan on hunting for Epic Rumbling Thunder...if I can find the quest entrance.)

Most Epic Crafting items are within reach.

When active, I play Ravenloft, Saltmarsh, and the Temple of Elemental Evil almost daily. Raids are out. I would prefer to avoid Just Business.

Saekee San suggested using 5 piece Ravenloft + 3 piece Sharn (or 2 piece Temple of Elemental Evil). I am in the process of evaluating those configurations.

Thank you, Dragavon. It was very kind of you to take the time to put that together. I will add that to the spreadsheet and look into purchasing Feywild.

Then maybe this could work for you? Mostly items from Ravenloft, 1 from Night Falls on Stormreach, 1 from Safety in Numbers and the artifact can drop anywhere in the main Sharn quests or the Cogs.

@Sophie The Cat Burglar - are you using any imbues? You can rack up imbue dice fast with filigrees.

Also, artifacts drop like candy. They end up cluttering inventory and personal bank, and either end up as food or bank brag. I mean, using artifacts is a very edge case outside of dino gear (which is crazy with the flexibility dino artifacts have). I can usually find a gear-tetris option that works better without an artifact; they exist largely for the 3 slots and filigrees for me. I have only ~3 (non dino) artifacts I use, and pretty much most of the vecna boots. Vecna boots are surprisingly versatile.

Should be wearing an artifact - even a suboptimal artifact is worth 15 RP before considering sets and a 3 filigree slot artifact is trivial to level up.

Dragavon, you are going way above the call of duty and I sincerely appreciate all the time you are taking to help me. If I can ever do anything for you, please let me know.

All of the items on this latest list are within reach! Three or four items are already in storage. Three of the items are part of sets I am already collecting.

It turns out all my accounts already have Sharn. I completely forgot that my dad purchased a bunch of stuff for my accounts as a Christmas present a couple years back.

Last night, with Sharn in hand, I went to the Cogs and recovered Legendary Rumbling Thunder along with some tool kits to move the necessary jewel. Very happy about that.

Three of my accounts have enough points to purchase Saltmarsh using the 30% off coupon, including the one with the Mechanic. I am leaning toward making that purchase.

Thank you again! I will head back to Ravenloft and start hunting.
