The new race that's coming this year...

While BG3 is popular as hell, I'd expect to see Gith when a Planescape expansion comes to DDO and not before.

Whatever SSG chooses for the race, they've set a high bar to meet after Tabaxi. The enhancement tree, the looks, and the cosmetic subtleties like the Tabaxi eyes were really well done.

Agreed. Tabaxi was so well done. They set the bar high for future races.

That being said, I'm def on the Gith bandwagon. I'd love to play one in DDO. Gith Monk was one of my first PnP characters.

You are right.
I want to pay for Duegar and Iconic Duergar Battle Rager.

I want to pay for Dwarven Defender Racial Tree.
no, you have to do it like this:

Dear SSG, i would buy Collectors extra maga suporter pack that has:
Duegar and Iconic Duegar Battle Rager
Dwarven Defender Racial Tree
and 5 extra shared bank spaces

for a humble price of 499,- dollars

It's the Year of the Dragon so I'm guessing Metallic Dragonborn with an Iconic Sorceror.

If it's part of the expansion, it doesn't mean that it's going to be Dragon Themed.

They seem to be going 2 different directions. Year of the Dragon stuff will likely be completely separate from expansion stuff.

Myth Drannor will more than likely be more Elf Focused and include lots of Elf Variations and subraces. Though Gold Dragons are def a thing in Myth Drannor but that's where the connection kind of begins and ends.

New PC race will be ithillid. Iconic will be Alhoon, with Sorc base class. Another archetype will later be added called Dragon Disciple; it'll be a sorc variant, with PM as a class tree, and the Dragon Disciple tree instead of the Savant trees.

The Dragon Disciple tree will be a hybrid tree, but able to specialize in either melee (str) or elemental damage casting (cha). It'll have two breath attacks as SLA's, and the tier 5 will have an enhancment that either gives +CL/MCL or +20% comp HP and +1/1 crit mod.

cordo said on the stream there will be a new race and iconic, maybe do some research before rage posting
I don't know if this was directed at me, but there was no rage in my question. I was asking if we were getting a new race and if it was going to have a new racial past life with it. Asking the community, which is generally pretty knowledgeable about these things, was my "research" method (though that really isn't the term I would have used for it).

I really wish they didnt abandon concepts the way they do. I'd love to see more Racial enhancement trees. Dwarven SD. Halfling Rad Serv. Drow Assassin. These are underserved races and underserved trees, but combined they give each other more value. Just dont make them all cost 14 AP to unlock...

Racial Variants are another piece of abandonware since Archetypes came out, apparently...
The problem with racial variants is that they don't give a unique racial past life. They are better than nothing, but only just barely. Wood elf is the only race I'll probably never play and I only ever bought it because it was 75% off. For 50% off I wouldn't have bought it. It just has so little value it was only worth picking up for the completeness of owning everything. If the only choice is between a new racial variant and nothing at all, I would take the racial variant, but I'd rather see them add anything else rather than a racial variant. On the other hand, new races are the thing I most want to see them add. Additional racial AP improve the experience of all the lives that follow. The more racial AP we have the better.

Variants arent about adding new PLs, though. They're about creating new build options - like Welf does with Falchions, e.g. And its very successful using that approach.

Motivation in the game shouldnt only come from power creep, so adding new stats shouldnt be the only thing that validates new build content. And if the only reason you want a new race is because its a means to get another +1 RAP, then that race is a failure - it should be something people want to play for its own sake.

Yea, I wouldn't mind having just a variant and NOT having to do another run of racial lives. LOL

Nothing wrong with just adding something that adds nothing but just some extra flavor and FUN! LOL

For people who want Gith, I think we'll need to wait for an astral plane expansion (maybe tied in with Xoriat?)

Agreed. I thought I am going to be done with Dragonlord after 3x lives but I am stuck with it for now, damn its so good to play DL, especially in high reapers. CC, wings, DPS all are good I expect it to be nerfed in the coming months with Tonquin dipping his fingers first and posting that in GitHub.

GD...its bad enough they sneak out meaningful revelations on Twitter, Twitch, Discord, Facebook, live streams, etc...now we gotta follow them on Github too? :p

This is a tangent, but I remember most people on Lama complaining that Dragonlord was too weak because it was behind some +dmg/MP compared to Kensai. I have to say that SSG doesn't have an easy job.

The strength in dlord is its versatility. Straight fighter, you can tank, or, spam out lots of MP.

I run a tank dlord. Took all the shield feats and shield expertise or whatever its called. Cost 5 feats to get shields. Worth every penny. No, I am not stand still in one place till the cows come home tough, but with support i can tank up to r8 pretty well.

So yes, if you want to, you can really tank as a dlord. I mated tank junk w/ extensive cc on a pdk framework. Works like a charm!
