An update error occurred

A few people at least are getting "An update error occurred" in the launcher. Anyone know what is going on or(hopefully) a solution?

Game servers are up, so if you are already in-game you are fine.
Patch servers appear to be down, so the Launcher won't connect. If you are not already in-game, it seems you cannot log on right now.
Issue seems to have started sometime within the last 30 minutes.

I don't expect that there is anyone home at the server ranch to reboot/reset the thing. No budget for after hours support.

totally worked for me on the desktop icon and not the task bar one.

1 right click on desktop icon select properties
2 add this the to the end of the string in the "target" field: -skiprawdownload -disablepatch
3 apply
4 right click on desktop icon and select "run as administrator"
