Can I ditch Steam if I download DDO from the website, and still login to same account I started on Steam?

I know they take a big cut from purchases however I have no interest in starting over.

Yes, your game account credentials are the same whether you are using the Steam version of the game client or the direct download version.

You can also just bypass steam directly if you already have the game installed to reduce overhead. Just search your computer for DNDlauncher.exe and run it (and pin that to your start menu/taskbar/etc. to make it easier to run). That'll launch the game directly outside stream.
