Illithid Event & Psionic Thralls

I'm on a level 10 Druid, and doing some way under-powered quests so I can get Patron Points (working on Coin Lords so I can open up more bag space. While doing this I noticed something significant that some other people may be missing. And by the way, I was trying to avoid the whole Illithid Invasion thing.
So as I am killing monsters, I notice some of them have pink tags that say 'Psionic Thrall' or some such. That means the monster or NPC or whoever has the pink tag is mind controlled by Illithids.

So basically whether you can do quests for the Invasion event or not, you will probably run into thralls, and I imagine killing them helps with the event somehow.

Could be interesting if killing x number of Thralls unlocked the next Illithid Invader

Ha ha! This is now my personal Head Canon for the Thralls!
