new pc, new installation on win11, and it always miss 56.3 MB of stuff, amongs it i managed to see and write down: some d3d compiler , winevidesomething , avcodec_53 , cef_extensions , cef_100_percent.pak , cef_200_percent.pak , awesomium_process.exe , a natives_blob thing....

there is more but it goes too fast to see. sorry i'm not a tech dude. i think i installed all the directx stuff and multiples visual c++ stuff....and it installs all the above too with no problem....but the next time it does it again....and again.....and again.....the game loads and works btw.

please help, what am i missing? how do i give thegame what it needs instead of having it download those things again and again?

I have the same problem (fresh Win11 install) with admin privileges.

It says it wants to download 56MB, it downloads around 10MB then aborts and shows the login screen.

yeah, i was running as admin.

btw, i sometimes get stupid fixated on things and have bad reactions, i was pissed off and in a come at me bro moment i went you want that stuff ok i'm smacking that stuff into you bloody electromachine, and without knowing what i was doing, i took that badly written list in the OP, started the old pc and compared the ddo folder with the folder in new pc.
following what launcher was saying, was always 56.3 MB, i put together 56.3 MB of stuff from old pc ddo folder and apparently missing in the new pc, yes they were missing, some in the folder and also something in the x64 folder. i just copypasted the stuff via usb drive.

in the end i smacked this stuff in :

....and it worked. the launcher stopped downloading those things everytime over and over.



just don't ask me what this means, or what those things are, i have no idea.

writing this hoping to help people that actually understand tech and know what to do with it, to trubleshoot the problem and offer thought-out solutions to other dear fellow players, or please comment to shed some light on the matter? thanks.

also maybe someone at ssg may want to check the issue?

I am getting this as well. After installing the game, now every time I log in I have a Windows confirmation to allow the game to load, and then a 56.3mb download happens, then the game loads correctly.

Annoying for those of us who dont have an old full install and are relying on SSG fixing the game install so that it includes all the existing files and not rely on the game loader every time you log in.

The cef stuff likely relates to libcef (embedded chrome browser) though why ssg would futz with that is only guessable by the hireling ai.

Of course, keeping a zip file of a known working install never hurts. Should you have to install from scratch, kill the installer once it starts on the data files the restore the archived copy then let the regular laincher patch from there.

This problem was mentioned in another thread, but there is no detailed information there.

If you look at the launcher logs, you will find attempts to load Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) modules. There are no files on the server, so the action is repeated several times and every time the launcher is launched.

I submitted information via the support form. This does not guarantee a solution to the problem in the near future, so below is information if there are problems downloading about 56MB files.

Download CEF version 3.2924.1575.g97389a9
Windows 32-bit - for the root folder of the game;
Windows 64-bit - for x64 game folder in the root folder.

For each bit depth, place the corresponding files (from the log) in the appropriate places.
cef_extensions.pak, cef.pak, cef_100_percent.pak, cef_200_percent.pak, d3dcompiler_47.dll, widevinecdmadapter.dll, avcodec-53.dll and other missing files.

Use the skiprawdownload startup option (link to details in related topic) to further reduce startup time.

Thanks for providing this info, but for a new member to offer a fix linking to something Ive not heard of, Im not going to click on links.

SSG should be the ones to make this fix by correcting their installer files and the way the loader checks files. Surely it cant be that hard.

It's good to be safe. This old member (insert joke here) has checked the links; they're legit. I have this problem, too, but I've never really thought about it. I'll test it on my old computer (which still runs DDO) after work and add step-by-step instructions if anyone is interested. Heck, I may even crank out a video. Thanks, @Dolmatov!

I was having a similar issue, except the launching was freezing and not giving me the login prompt. The solution I found was to add -skiprawdownload as a command line option to the launcher.

Launcher still tries to download and fails to download some files. Im not a technician so solution higher up was a bit too much for me - what should i do with these exe files the links point to, and hot to add the necessery files to DDO to stop it redownloading these 50+ |Mb and all spash screens every launch?
