This is probably a really noob question.
I see this on DDO Wiki which doesn't talk about what happens if you're not proficient with orbs.
I'm just wondering if/when I have the "Not Proficient" notification, am I getting this whole list of penalty?
For example, I am proficient with Dwarven Axe, if I wield an orb which I am not proficient with, am I not able to produce glancing blows?
or does using an orb while not being proficient with orbs just doesn't have any penalty?
Thank you,

- For armor, receive zero PRR (see article for details).
- For weapons, you do not receive a +20% to hit. (DDO Forums)
- Applies item's Armor Check Penalty to attack rolls if not proficient with armor or shield. (ACPs apply to skills regardless of proficiency.)
- Note that an armor or shield with an ACP of 0 can be used without penalty by all characters whether they're proficient with it or not.
- Mithral/darkwood heavy shield has 0 ACP.
- Mithral light shield has 0 ACP and 0% ASF.
- Great Crossbows do not get the knock-down on a natural 20.
- Repeating Crossbows (light and heavy) do not "repeat" - just 1 shot/attack.
- 2-handed weapons do not produce glancing blows, nor do bastard swords or Dwarven axes.
