A Greeting From The DDO Wiki!

Does anyone know why the DDO wiki now has adds covering the content? The adds used to show only in the margins.
I do not know, but it is very frustrating.

I have an ad-blocker, but I can see these "ads" because they replace and move content within tables elsewhere. This makes reading tables, even with ad-block, awkward and confusing. Things that should be in column 2 end up in column 3 and vice versa, for example.

Personally I've never seen any adverts on that website this year. It might be partly due to the User Agent I am using and my settings. I would assume using either https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UBlock_Origin or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adblock_Plus browser extension with the EasyList filter https://easylist.to/ would help some people.

I presume they are not malicious injected adverts you are seeing.

We've been having a weird issue with ads popping up in the middle of auto-generated tables and the like recently; we've contacted the site's owner to get this issue fixed. (Typically, creating an account should allow you to view the wiki with no adverts at all - we usually only show adverts to users without accounts, which is mostly to pay off the site hosting costs.)

Yes, I can see a single reference to Google AdSense adverts in the page source code: //pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js

However, I don't see the adverts on that site regardless of being logged in or out (and I don't stay logged in). Even if I were to clear all my browser settings, reboot the router and obviously hadn't ever been logged in, I still wouldn't see them.

Obviously some people that visit that site do regularly see some adverts and by the sounds of things it's a server or script issue causing them to be inserted in unwanted places.

Which is the better place for ddowiki discussion. Ddo forums or discord channel?

If you had to choose 1.

I love the wiki and would probably quit playing if it didn't exist.

Not noticed ads but I browse with Firefox/No-Script/AdBlock Plus running at all times.

Nice, that allows you to take advantage of what they provide without them getting compensated for it.
