The general consensus is that Khopesh is basically dead since Knights Training was introduced.
Why pestle? Not following this combination of weapons, since dino is slashing, and pestle is smashing...Khopesh hasn't been relevant since Knight's Training was introduced in Feb 2019. Longswords are equivalent to khopeshs now. Also, you'd do more TWF damage with a Dino Scimitar in your main hand and Pestle in your offhand.
This isn’t exactly true if you’re using adrenaline as your epic strike; Pestle + Dino Warhammer would pull ahead with harder hitting adrenalines, and would also leverage raging crush and legendary rally better. Probably a different story if you’re using quick cutter, though, and maybe not even then depending on how many auto crit attacks that you have. Also, you'd do more TWF damage with a Dino Scimitar in your main hand and Pestle in your offhand.
Pestle’s +1 multiplier on 19-20 affects both your main and offhand. Scimitars have a better base profile than warhammers on a dragon lord (15-20 x4 with scimitars versus 17-20 x5 with warhammers), but that difference is somewhat negated with the auto-crit attacks, and even further still if you included a splash that also gives +1 threat, such as 14+ paladin; bringing the discrepancy down to only one critical unit in favor of scimitars, but scimitars also have smaller base die size and are exceedingly likely to be losing in dps once rotations are factored in.Why pestle? KotC, knights training enhancement, holy sword? A 14/6 splash like that? Should I ship it 15/5? Knights training buffs crits all around with pestle, and i have an attuned dino scimmy. Is it worth getting both improved slash/smash crit? This isn’t exactly true if you’re using adrenaline as your epic strike; Pestle + Dino Warhammer would pull ahead with harder hitting adrenalines, and would also leverage raging crush and legendary rally better. Dino + Pestle is a fine combo but there's more to the game than Adrenaline every 9 seconds. This isn’t exactly true if you’re using adrenaline as your epic strike; Pestle + Dino Warhammer would pull ahead with harder hitting adrenalines
There is more to the game, and it was highlighted in the second half of my post. In the context of using either weapon combination on a dragon lord, and assuming a meta split that includes holy sword from Paladin levels, the difference between the two critical profiles is exactly one iteration of damage, with scimitars at 14-20 x4 versus warhammers at 16-20 x5.Dino + Pestle is a fine combo but there's more to the game than Adrenaline every 9 seconds.
What would you pair pestle with then? There is more to the game, and it was highlighted in the second half of my post. Considering how scimitars have a smaller die size at 1d6+3 versus warhammer’s 1d8+3, and then the number of all total auto-crits that you can leverage with warhammer’s larger multiplier, a mainhand scimitar can not win in this scenario. One iteration of damage doesn’t outscale… what’s more to the game than using adrenaline every 9 seconds.
yeah my swf + thf bsword + runearm was pretty silly stupid my last dlord life... Talk about cleaving all the things...i find DL hurts you for twf as some twf animations on it are terrible. same goes for thf, but thf is kinda just terrible regardless. swf is my favorite way to go, but I wouldn't use kohpeshes. as others have said, schims or pestle are better. best is probably kukri with VKF and that even works with chainz
It isnt just -4 tohit. Its -20% something. Total tohit or some bs. They did it because -4 tohit is so trivial that noone would bother taking the feat and would just use the "better" weapon without real penalty.I agree with most of the sentiment expressed above, but I wonder....
Is there any penalty beyond -4 to hit with khopeshes that makes just ignoring the exotic weapons proficiency feat a problem?
If not then you could consider just taking the -4 hit and saving yourself a feat, which can't be said of longswords with KT.
