in the 18 years since DDO there hasn't been one mmo I could stand and before it there was only one and they revised it and it died if there was another game I'd probably go

I've played LOTRO it feels very different to me I didn't enjoy itI have been playing LOTRO lately. I was absolutely gob smacked on the benefits VIP gives you over at that game. I im subscribed to quite a few games with VIP benefits. So I've always known DDO's VIP benefits are completely lacking compared to other games. What i was not expecting was a game run by the same people to have vastly better VIP benefits. For those waiting for HC and finding live not worth playing. I would strongly suggest trying LOTRO, its really fun and has similar gameplay mechanics. Really loving it

Agreed. It's beautiful, but very different and much more grindy.

Deeds in every zone like kill 30 bugs (https://lotro-wiki.com/wiki/Neekerbreeker-slayer) and then kill 60 more bugs (https://lotro-wiki.com/wiki/Neekerbreeker-slayer_(Advanced)). There are multiples of these in every zone and you have to do them and the associated meta-deeds to improve your character (https://lotro-wiki.com/wiki/Deeds).
I'd much rather quest through multiple lives than wander around all the zones looking for enough bugs to kill.

Because "grind" doesn't have a real definition. It simply means, "the form of advancement in the game that I do not enjoy doing." People rarely refer to things they like as a grind. Someone that loves end game raiding and hates past lives would call past lives a grind, while I would say end game raiding is much more of a grind, because I like that way less. DDO has much faster leveling and advancement than most games (including LOTRO) because DDO uses the past life system to extend the game rather than requiring more kills per level like other games.
