I went with the carrionette, in the hope that the devs will do something interesting with it and how it interacts with the players; something that hasn't been done before.
It may also mean a return to Ravenloft, which is totally fine by me.

Apparently, news from PAX East is that Carrion Crawler is coming to DDO as is Hydra. This is based on tonight's (3/23/2024) Vooduspyce's twitch stream. So, I guess we'll get what we wanted either way.

Carrionette would be amazing but it would pretty much require a DM to run it. DDO's Ai is nowhere near being able to do it justice. Basically its only attack is an attempted soul-swap. It throws or stabs with a small needle/blade/etc and, if you fail 2 saves (1st for paralysis 2nd for soul-swap if 1st fails), your soul goes into the doll and its goes into you. NO way to do that in DDO.
I have played some NWN PW's that had these, but they only appeared when a DM was on to play as the Carrionette. Made for some interesting adventures.

Exactly! You just described a very exciting scenario for a quest or arc. Imagine waking up after a hit realising the character in front of you is you, and you are in the body of a doll trying to figure out how to find that needle so that you can get yourself back. Imagine even watching you attacking you. And since people tend to go rogue, imagine lots of dolls running around on Eberron.
I'm very new to the game and I've seen everything already that would be needed to make this possible.

The carrionette aesthetics just doesn't fit DnD in my mind - not even the setting it's from. The ettin will probably be indistinguishable from other giants, so to me there was only really one choice even if I have no particular love for the intellect devourer. I'd imagine the carrionette is going to be popular, though, because of how different it is.
Me too! Carrion Crawlers are definitely a very iconic monster. And pretty scary with their paralysis.

Yup. I'm mirroring the poll on my YouTube channel and right now after 257 votes it is Ettin 40%, Intellect Devourer 32%, Carrionette 28%.
DDO reddit has similar results. So this is probably the results the official poll is getting as well. Though it could be a little different since the official poll doesn't require a sign in and should be wider reaching.

I voted for Ettin but have to agree with some of the posts above, that I would much rather have seen other monsters to choose from. Behirs, Bulettes and Wyverns.
I think Carionette is a very odd choice as they're pretty much unique to one very small Island of Terror in Ravenloft, namely the pseudo-italian village of Odiare where they are the creations of an insane toymaker who is kept as a slave by his greatest (and worst) creation, the original carionette (and Darklord of the domain) Maligno, who is basically a twisted version of Pinocchio.
Intellect Devourers could be cool, though there's a whole bunch of other Mindflayer-related critters I'd rather see added first, like Ulitharid (Noble Illithids), Elder Brain and Brain Golems, heck even The Alhoon (Mind Flayer Liches!) would be preferred.
