Aloha, everyone.
As you may be aware, on Saturday 8/15, the Big Island, where I live, was significantly impacted by Hurricane Lala, which came within 35 miles of the southern coast of the island. Hurricane force winds and heavy rain caused severe damage to many areas of the island. Several locations are still without power, water, or communication.
Non-profits, like The Food Basket, Hawaii Island's food bank, are usually the first to respond to the needs of those affected. Government response is usually slower, so these community organizations act as a stop gap to assist. These organizations operate on donations. When a major event like this happens, they can go through a large chunk of their budget in a short period of time.
To help out, I will be doing a charity stream for The Food Basket on Saturday 8/29. Stream will start at 7am Hawaii time, 1pm Eastern. We'll go for about 10 hours. I have some DDO point codes to give away courtesy of Standing Stone Games and we'll possibly have other goodies as well if we meet certain amounts. The donations will be done through the Twitch Charity platform, in coordination with PayPal Giving Fund. All funds donated will go directly to The Food Basket.
I hope all of you can join me for a day of giving and assisting with recovery from this hurricane. I look forward to seeing you there!
